AWF March 2024
We are delighted your child will be a member of the Alaska Endeavour expedition to Black Bay, Alaska, from June 1 through June 12, 2024. The benchmark study we'll be doing is important research, and your child's author credit will be well-earned.
Black Bay is on Chicagof Island, at the coordinates 57.7101 -136.1328 (you can cut and paste these coordinates into Google Earth to see a satellite image of the bay and the surrounding area).
This wild and protected bay in the middle of Chicagof Island is filled with wildlife – Brown Bears, Sitka Blacktail deer, Steller Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, Bald Eagles, Sand Hill Cranes, and salmon and rockfish.
The team will fly in and out of Sitka (on Alaska Airlines).
The Endeavour’s route north is very protected: north through Krestof Sound, Neva Strait, and Salsbury Sound, with stops in Ford Arm, Klag Bay (and its ghost town), and Kimsham Cove (with its gold mine) to Black Bay. The route back south is on the outside of Kruzof Island (conditions permitting).
At this point, please download the Expedition Agreement and program description, read and sign it, then scan or photograph it and email it to Admin@AlaskaEndeavour.org.
You can find the agreement here.
Next, please pay the first half of the student portion of the costs ($1,229.00) to reserve your child's place on the expedition. Fill in your name and contact information below and continue on to the credit card payment screen.
The balance of the student portion of the costs will be due 15 days before the departure date. We'll send you a payment link at that time.
Your school will contact you about air travel.
Please reach out to us at Admin@AlaskaEndeavour.org with any questions.
We're looking forward to having your child on board!
